Nazareth Celebrates America 250

The entire Nazareth community is gathering together to celebrate America’s 250.
To mark the anniversary of our nation’s founding, the Moravian Historical Society, the Nazareth Economic Development Commission, and the County of Northampton Department of Community and Economic Development are planning a community festival.

Saturday, July 4, 2026 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Nazareth Celebrates America 250 will take place on the grounds of the Moravian Historical Society

Join us after Nazareth's annual July 4th Kazoo Parade for a community festival!

The Festival will feature FREE family friendly activities, including:
•  Patriotic Program honoring town heros
•  The Nazareth Farmers Market
•  The Craig Thatcher Band
•  Craft Vendor Market with Local Artisans
•  Colonial Demonstrators
•  Kids Activities
•  Food Trucks

Join us as a Vendor!

The Festival Committee invites you to apply for a booth space at the Nazareth Celebrates America 250 event on July 4, 2026. We are looking for vendors with high-quality products and will limit the number of vendors. Priority will be given to artisans who make traditional crafts and those who have America 250-related products.
Visit https://www.moravianhistory.org/america-250 to complete a vendor application.

Downtown Sip N Shop

The Downtown Sip N Shop is another opportunity for businesses to stay open late and shoppers to visit stores they have not been in before.

Shoppers grab a passport from their favorite store or begin their event at the NECD located at the Nazareth Center for the Arts. It's a great evening meandering around town and sipping on the various options offered by our merchants. Shoppers return their passports to the NEDC for a chance to win prizes. There is always music and an activity in the arts center.

Galentine’s Sip N Shop happens in February

A new Nazareth Tradition. What began as a girls night out has grown to so much more. Friends, couples, families and father/kids have enjoyed this fun night out. The festivities begin at the Nazareth Center for the Arts (NCA) where participants were able to pick up their free bracelet and map, enjoy a few snacks and a craft and then head out to visit our participating shops. Our wonderful downtown businesses hosted activities and snacks and each had a bead or charm for participants to add to their bracelet. The evening finished up back at the NCA where we had a beading trading station and raffle prizes.

Our 2025 bracelets were sponsored by the Nazareth Economic Development Commission and Spark Good. This event is free for participants and businesses were asked to donate a prize to the raffle table.

May the 4th Be With You on the 1st Saturday in May

An out of this world event honoring a very famous movie. Held on the first Saturday of May to coincide with the opening of the Nazareth Farmers Market, our event features an epic lightsaber battle between the forces of good and evil for ribbon cutting rights. Participants enjoyed a costume parade, lightsaber building, photo opps, snacks stops and tons of surprises. Our downtown businesses were able to use their creativity to plan their own spacey activity for everyone who stopped by.

There is no charge to event participants or downtown businesses to participate. Our businesses generously donate raffle prizes. Funding for this event is through Northampton County Hotel Tax Grant funds.

Shop Small Saturday/Small Business Saturday, Saturday after Thanksgiving

Saturday, November 29th, 2025 - 9 am

Small Business Saturday, which takes place on the Saturday after thanksgiving encourages consumers to support local businesses by shopping small. American Express launched this shopping holiday in 2010, at the height of the Great Recession, as a way of redirecting holiday shopping to local stores. A decade later, it’s observed in all 50 states, and in 2011, the Senate passed a resolution recognizing Small Business Saturday.

Our small businesses in downtown are the heart and soul of our community and Nazareth celebrates small in a big way. The NEDC partners with the Nazareth Farmers Market, Nazareth Center for the Arts and the Nazareth Area Chamber of Commerce for a holiday season long shopping event.

We kick off with a special edition of the Nazareth Farmers Market by inviting additional vendors to bring their wares to downtown. Our downtown shops offer specials and promotions all season long. There is music, prizes, activities and raffles throughout the day.
Follow our social media for details of this years event.

Nazareth Kazoo Parade

Nazareth Kazoo Parade, July 4th

What began as an attempt to join the Guinness Book of World Records for the largest kazoo ensemble grew into a cherished event celebrating Nazareth and honoring veterans. The Nazareth Kazoo Parade, originally hosted by the Nazareth-Bath Chamber of Commerce on July 4th, then moved to the Saturday closest to the 4th with a change of organizers, has finally found a home with the Kazoo Parade Committee and the Nazareth Economic Development Commission. The public outcry for returning this event to its original date of July 4 could not be ignored. A group of dedicated volunteers organizes and executes this quirky event, where everyone is welcome to join in. Although the parade misses the mark for the Guiness Book of World Records it may actually qualify for the parade with the highest ratio of participants to spectators. The parade marchers don’t miss a large audience as they are busy humming patriotic tunes and enjoying a stroll through town.

The parade begins at the Nazareth Area High School, marches through downtown, and concludes at Borough Council Chambers. The concluding program includes a performance by the Nazareth Area Memorial Library’s Ukulele Band and the honoring of our Grand Marshall and all the veterans in attendance.

We have some special plans for our parade in 2026! Celebrate America 250!

The Great Nazareth Cookie Stroll

The Great Nazareth Cookie Stroll began in 2018 during the Shop Small Saturday event as a way to encourage shoppers to visit businesses in the downtown. Cookie strollers would purchase a cookie box at the Nazareth Farmers Market. They would also receive a list and map of participating businesses. They would then stroll through town picking up a cookie at each stop. At the end of the day participants may have a full box of delicious cookies to take home or may have a belly full of delicious cookies.

Each year The Great Nazareth Cookie Stroll grows. Our sponsor this year, Thrivent Financial Services out did themselves by providing not only one of a kind, limited edition cookie stroll bags but also a fabulous hot chocolate bar for all our strollers.
